I think about it every so often and I'm starting to regreat buying my cav... not that I actually own a cav more the fact that I bought a brand new one. For what I use it for.... show car, weekend and nice weather I think it was a waste to buy it brand new. If I could go back I'd buy either a used 03 or an older Z vert and go from there...
Exactly why I bought both of mine used
I bought mine cause I needed a new car, and i wanted something nice, but affordable. I knew there was a lot of aftermarket for my car, so i went from there. The more I think about it, the more I wished I had saved up for a bigger down payment and bought something like a Lancer Ralli Art or WRX.
mine was given to me and now that its smashed, i dont regret anything...this was a great car and was fun to modify, later down the road after i pay off the truck im getting, im going to start another J project and do it better this time....i love my cav, but it needs to go
Buying mine? Nope, not at all. Got it used, in great shape, and for a great price.
Modding mine? Well, that's another story...
In my opinion for the price the car i well built. I am a janitor in NYC and if it snows i have to be at work or i could get fired. I don't make enough to buy a truck and i am all thumbs so used is out of the question. the car handles light snow like a champ heavy snow like 8 inches it could get stuck if it gets under there. I got stuck in the snow about a week ago we had snow storm . So i called AAA and they could not send me a tow truck. I was so mad that didn't get traction control that day. but i got out in time. I do regret the plastic wheel covers i have. i am dont regret buying it new . we all know how other people treat J cars. People giggle some times at the car. It happened today at the dealership. Hey even when i refinanced the car the banker chuckled. i got pulled over the cop smiled and said is this your car. So no one is going mistake me for a tuff guy any time soon. Overall I like the car I will buy another small Gm car it will be new
only minor regrets
I don't regret getting mine, I kinda regret getting the type-j body kit since everyone seems to have it....

I'm glad I bought my Z. not happy at the price I got it for, but I love the car itself. it's the first car I've owned that I can actually modify, and modify it the way I want.

I second that, but you know exactly how many body kits they make for our cars. Especially polyurethane ones.

i have always wanted a Z24 sence my aunt got her 94 Z24. so i wanted a cavalier when i could drive so i got a job saved my pay checks went to a chevy dealer told them i wanted a 96-02 Z24 any color put pink and purple 3 months later i got a call saying they found me a car it was my 2001 sunfire SE it had all the stuff i wanted in the Z24 other then the motor. the min i saw it i fell in love with it. and no regreats in buying this car i now own it and i love haveing this car. its mine till it dies.
Main thing i regret when I had a J was....
AUTOMATIC!
i regret getting mine. i wanted an s10 but couldn't find out. i got irritated and settled for the cavalier. if i had it to do over again, i would have spent 14k on a foreign car that would last me a lot longer.
GO PATS!!!
I don't regret my Cav. I bought it used for $9000 out the door w/tax title and liscense. It had 2500 miles on it and now it has 6000. i wish it had some options, i mean this car is bare bones. It would be nice if it had the LS Sport body kit and a stock spoiler, but other than that I love thing and will own it until it can no longer be used.

Honestly, there is not a better car than a cavalier for me right now. Sure there are better cars, but are they worth the extra money? Not for a university student. I could have gotten a smaller car, but I just didn't like the looks of any of the other cars in the price range. The car's reliable, cheap, quick, looks good - theres nothing wrong with it as far as I'm concerned. Sure its not the BEST car in the world, but hey, thats coming later when I get a real job.
sort of it was my secound choice next to a tiburon gt v6 i couldnt find one anywhere so i settled for the cav
I don't regret it. I was looking for a car that I can afford and it was the cheapest. I wasn't too happy at first, but now that I see what I can do with it.... I would have saved a lot of money if I got it used, but you never know what the previous owner did. I'll have to see if it will change with the time (Have it for 1 year now and nothing broken considering 60 to 100 1/4 mile races last season)
im with you 100%...i dont use mine everyday its more of a summer car / show / not used alot car...bought it new...or should i say paying for it new...
No regrets whatsoever... bought him new and he was a total virgin when I got him (right off the transporter)... have about 63,000 miles on him and he's been the best car ever !
none.
got my cav when it had 24k miles. I broke 45k today.
eh not really.....i mean its kinda dumb cuz i bought a brand new one in september, and it's sat pretty much since then waiting for nice weather to mod it.....which is gonna void the warrenty, so yea it's kinda dumb, but whatever i wanted NEW car.
the 97cavy tho, 4600 bucks, 3.5 years with only a change in an alternator, can't complain it was an awsome car
i bought my ish fully loaded (i got a great deal though) brand new. was it the best deal you could find, yes, but in the longrun? who knows.
through the years, from the beginning, to its highest point, to deconstruction, to now a new face (and supercharged!
) and through a few of the problems its given me, and through the HUGE amount of money i've spent on this car on aftermarket,
i look at the immense happiness its given me, even through frustration, because that frustration only brings achievement afterwards. and even after five years, its still running good, and still making me happy.
