At least one new J-body left....
Saturday, September 16, 2006 4:03 PM
Thought someone might be interested in buying a new J. My local Pontiac dealer has one new 05 Sunfire still left on his lot. Brand new, never titled, no miles, original window stickers still in place. Someone could probably get a great deal!

Do they have a web site so others can check it out? That would be a kick @$$ deal for someone!

Good call, Wicked. Turns out they have an excellent website and according to them, they have TWO new Sunfires for sale. Go to Performance Buick-Pontiac and click on "new cars" and select "Sunfire". You can see the cars and pictures of their window stickers. Check it out.

maybe I am missing something, but where is this 'kick ass deal' ? All I am seeing is two sunfires for 16 grand?

The 16K is their starting point. I'm sure you could get a lot better price by "dealing". These are 05s and the 07 models are arriving. I can't imagine you couldn't deal for a substantial discount. The dealer should be ready to get rid of these cars at a very low to almost no profit margin.

i would offer 6 and actually take it, if they agreed to 6

out the door

I know for a fact that they will let them go for less than that. I'm sure that posted price is just the list on it. I'm sure there are huge rebates due to the fact that it is wasting space on their lot. Holding on to a car for 6 months is bad, having it for 2 years they desperately want to get rid of it. I worked for a Dodge dealer in my area and I know holding on to cars for extended lengths of time costs them lots of cash.

Both "Sedona Beige Metallic"...

Uhh... I can see why they're not flying out the door... not a popular colour!

Well, the sticker is about 17.5. I rode by there this afternoon, and they have a green sale sign in the windshield for 13.6. I would think 12 might be possible for a smart haggler.

I think they will let them go for 10-11K. And I'm serious.

pfft no way in hell a new j is worth 10, plus it has been sitting there for HOW LONG, defiantly starting to not be to good for the poor enigne.

/\____ not always true. Some dealers take the time to run their cars periodically so they don't sit for months on end. I will say that's rare that they do that, but it is always possible.

The NADA Guide lists the average trade-in value for a used 2005 Sunfire with SE trim and low miles at $10,000 and the average retail price at $12,050.

id bet they will go for around $9-10 grand with good negotiation. i would just ask for the best price first and then haggle them down.

i remember when i bought my 05 cavalier, the dealer had a 2003 corvette on the show room floor, brand new. they had the list sheet taped to the windshield marked down $20,000 im serious 60 grand got you this brand new vette. as a joke i asked the sales guy what the "best price" was. he told me they would probably sell it for 50 grand if i paid cash. yea i went home in the cavalier.

My friends grandmother is looking to sell her 99 base cavalier.....It's got like 3,000 miles and been in a garage every minute it wasn't on the road racking up those miles! It only books at 3300 so I'm going to try and talk her down to 2500-3000....too bad it's an auto!
