well, i know that timing belts have a reccomended change interval, usually 60,000 miles. i would like to know if they recomend a change of the timing chains on thier engines. well at least the 2.4 TC and the ecotec, as i have one of each. i havnet found anything in my owners manual, but considering the early ecotecs had chain issues, i was wondering if they had any recomendations, especially since my 2.4 is at almost 130k, and my eco is getting close to 100k.

as far as i remember, reading about anything "official" was that timing chains should not be changed. then also, that they should be pretty good for about 150k miles.

then again, its the jbo.

I used to work at GM, until Tuesday then I was discharged.

We never changed timing chains, only belts.

The chain in my 130Kmi old 2.3 looks like it's brand new still when I had it out last. Chains usually last longer than the engine.
