I hate coming on here asking for seemingly 'common sense' advice but I really don't know what to do.
I am getting rid of the red Cavalier-- probably in spring.
My issue is-- I don't know what to ask for it/whether or not to part it out/whether or not to keep it as is is and sell it.
I'm thinking I may keep it as it is and sell it that way--- BUT I'm not sure.
What are your all's thoughts on it?
What do u think I could get out of it?
Here's what is done/will be done to it come spring time:
Full fiberglassed interior-- painted
fiberglassed sub enclosure in trunk
Rag Top
Aerogear Predator Hood
Shaved Handles, Key Holes, Antenna
Molded/Cut Drift Side Skirts, BC2 front, customized drift rear
19" Rims
etc,etc (i believe i have everything listed in my cardomain)
It will have basically all it has now (with the exception of easystrre air bags and leather seats).
It will have a two-tone paint job (the color it is now &a dark grey metallic)-- if I decide to keep it the way it is &sell it like that.
A big negative though-- the car has 90k miles, a 2200, &it's an auto-- BUT it runs and drives great.
so what should I do to make the most money in my situation?
[[keep in mind it has a ragtop, it has molded skirts, shaved handles &key holes, a fiberglassed interior & it does not/will not have safety air bags]]
any advice/help is mush appreciated/needed.
thanks
I'd suggest you take off and sell what you can seperatelly, but if you don't have their stock counterparts just save the hassle and sell it as a whole.
well why you sellin? but regardless you would get more if you parted it out. if you do decide to pm me with some prices on your cabon fiber interior pieces and mirrors.
Part out all and anything you can on it. Or list it for what you want out of it and then take parts off the car for people who want it for less. Make sure they know you take parts off though lol. Kind of like a barganing factor. Like I'll buy the car for this much, you keep the stereo and rims or seats. Things like that.
I am selling my car and anyone that wants it can have it for less without things on it or we can always work something out. I am willing to work that way. If someone likes all that I have on it then buy it like that. If not then I am very flexible you know. Just always know that you are never gonna get what you want out of the car but you can always come close.
I always figure that I will get atleast 800 less than I want for the car.
first try and sell it as a whole. throw it up on ebay and you'll probably get a bite. thats what i wanted to do but the clear coat was peeling on my car and didnt have the money to fix it so i just parted it out. if you try parting it out on this site, you arent really going to get far. you have an amazing car w/ great quality parts. thing is, people on this site are cheap and refuse to pay for anything. this then leaves you in the same boat im in, trying to get rid of these parts for a decent price w/o completely burning yourself on the deal.
hope it all works out for you and good luck
you know that saying
"you know your ghetto when your wheels are wrth more then your car"?
no offense but that seems pretay accurate in your situation, part it out
Dont bother and leave it alone!
Put car cover on and storage it somewhere. You will love it all over again someday.
I wish I could've sold my Z as a whole, I had a buyer lined up, he backed out, so I got pissed and parted it out.
I got lucky and knew a buyer, otherwise I would probably still be sitting on it, as it was the wrong time of year, and I had already sat on it for a month with so-so interest locally.
IF I could go back, I would of left it together, and took a big hit on it....as I didn't make anything off of the parts anyhow, and sold the actual car for a little less than I owed.
Live and learn.
throw it on ebay with a reserve for what you want to get out of it. if someone comes close to your asking price you know its work just selling as is. if you are no where near start pricing up your aftermarket stuff and see if you can come close to what the high bidder on ebay was and then decide from there. hate to see your car go i really liked it.

just keep it store it and someday you can drive it again! but if you really want to sell it then try as a whole first.
Out of curiousity, how much would you want for it whole?
I've never heard of this "part throttle" before. Does it just bolt on?
lol i wish i had money to just keep it and store it until i wanted to drive it.
i can't pay taxes+insurance on it + i'm trying to pay off the other two Js we bought as well.
i'd love to keep it, but i just can't
the other two cars have less miles and better engines
i have no idea what to ask for it...
what do you all think would be a good reasonable price-- so i wouldn't get ripped off and so no one else would get ripped off?
what could i do to possibly increase the value of it (not blue book that's shot-- but like tuner wise--lol)?
if your storing it drop insurance, thast what i do with the fire when i store it away i just call my agent up and tell him to take it off then when its ready to go back on the road i just give him a call and have him start it back up.
as for what to ask, im not sure really but i'd say if u are selling it i wouldnt do any more work to it since you wont get hardly any of what you put into it unless its something small like fix a few things that may be broke that a seller would point out to you.
does it cost you anything to put it on ebay with like a 20k reserve? if u can do that free do it and see what you get bid wise.

it's kinda sucky really because ebay charges more for car listings-- they charge a whole lot more actually.
if i did put it on there, i'd have to list it as like parts &accessories or something-- to save there.
i may put it on cardomain whenever i am finished-- not sure though.
we hate to not finish it.
the front bumper still needs filled in and the car needs painted.
we already have paint and all the supplies so we won't really be out anything.
interior is already fiberglassed-- just needs painted.
it's really just a matter of getting everything together/on and finding a place to paint it.
i want to see it complete--- one time--- before i get rid of it.
i really hate to see it go-- i'll cry. but we just can't afford to keep it along with the other two.
