how many of you are still paying off your car, but still do major mods to it?
i still have a year and 2 months left on my loan, yet im shaving everything, doing headlight/tail conversions and widebody, not to mention interior, etc.
do you guys wait to do major mods like this to the car until its paid off? or do you say screw it and go ahead with it?
just trying to gauge some insight. curious what would happen in the event of an accident, or something. not that i really drive the car, but just curious about your guys thoughts.
i save my money to pay off the car and to save for my next car

good, i thought it sounded too mean thats why i edited it
I had 5 months left on my lease and I said screw it...I knew I was going to keep the car...so I went ahead with modding it.
That was nearly 3 years ago now though
paid it off right then and there(feb 05) but have yet to do anything major.. *sigh*

still paying on mine. most, if not all, of my tax returns and work bonus is going to the principal. hopefully I'll take a big chunk out of what I owe.
I haven't done any "major" mods yet, except for my upcoming Eco swap.

When i first bought my car i put nearly 6 grand into it before making one car paymant which i had a loan for 3 years for it. But its been payed off now since 2005.
Originally pay off date was suppose to be Oct 07'.. Fell into some extra money and paid it off last May.
Went on Body kit, Carbon fiber hood, fenders, 00+ Headlight conversion, glassing the radio bezel, Full exhaust from header back with new everything, New 18"s and rubber, Prostock wing
This summer--- > Get car Painted, Internal engine work and Install Nitrous Kit.
So i would say i waited to pay the car off and get a daily driver before i really started to play.
cav's paid off i paid cash from when i crashed my other one(RIP). my camry im still paying for, 9 more payments to go!

I still got like 2 1/2 years left..... sigh. I miss being noteless. Mine is a 05
unfortunately i'm still paying for mine...... and i haven't drove it since Jan of 06. Why you ask? Well because the motor decided to go and I said @!#$ it and haven't touched it since. The bad thing is that I have been paying on a car that I cant drive, and its just cheaper to pay off the @!#$ er instead of rebuilding the motor.
hindsight is 20/20 but i wish i would have never done a damn thing to the car.

Did suspension, full exhaust, and most bolt ones as well as a body kit and rims before I paid it off.
I've done the interior, SC and system since it's been paid off...
So about half and half although I've spent more money after it's been paid off than I did before!
3 year loan here as well...I was always told if I can't afford it with a 3 year note I can't afford it!
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?
Major stuff definately came after the payoff date, but not against doing it without it being payed off. If you mod while still paying on it and wreck it- you lose money, if you wreck it payed off with mods- you lose money, so in the end, you still are screwed!!
it would be funny for GMAC to come try and repo the car from me. id open the garage and say.."go ahead boys, good luck" lmao
it has no doors on it, no suspension, no trunk, no hood, no headlights/tails, no interior, no fenders, no windows, etc etc etc, lol
i'm still paying on mine i bought it in feb 2006 and have 9500 to go on it started out at 11500
You take a women and X her by PSI devide the legs and you can then juice the car......LOL
I think I paid way to much for my 2002 Cav with 2200 engine
30k KMswhen I bought it October 2005. Since then I have put another 30k KMs on it. I am planning on modding it but I would preferably like to get it paid off first so I am just doing smaller cosmetic stuff first that doesn't run to high of a bill.
i'm still paying on mine and i have to replace the motor!
k5 ftmfw!!
Paid off in July! I'll pry have a kit by then tho.
Parents bought it for me.
Chhhyeah.

Just piad off my blue cav in November, bought in new in 01'. Dumped as much as I could into it.
As soon as the 02 was paid off I bought my 03, but it is ALOT less since it was used.
I don't drink or smoke so I find it easy to save for what I want to buy for my rides.
