So what do you recommend? Is there a HUGE difference between them.
Quad 4 if you're willing to replace the head and remove the balance shafts.
Im not thinkin about puttin one in a car, im thinkin about buying a 1998 z24 with a quad 4 in it. Would that be a mistake? Its a high output dohc quad 4.... im still clueless on the difference between that and the twin cam 2.4.
95-99 never came with the HO or high output quad four, only came in older GM vehicles
it possible to put one in and the car you are buying could have had the previous owner transpant one in, but its more likely that they just put the high output IDI cover on a 2.4
and from what i know quad fours and 2.4s are the same thing but there were several different varieties, many be wrong though
"So I guess I'll have to wait to see what makes you special that should have to wait for you for this month"
What the hell?
Ahaha, wrong thread. Ignore
like previously stated, its probably a regular 2.4 with the high output IDI cover ( the thing that says high output on top of the engine)
they are interchangeable and its an easy way of adding flare to an enigne bay, BTW that intake looks like a home depot special
That is DEFINATELY the 2.4
Here's a 2.3
Alright, its been buggin me all day wether it was the 2.3 or 2.4, but now i know. Thanks
on a good note cars only got 30k on it!
God I can't believe the deception here.
The white car has a 2.4 with a coil housing cover from a 2.3HO on it.
The red car also has a 2.4 engine, but with an HO manifold swap.
The 2.3 quad 4 motor was available in 1995 (only 1995) J-bodies.
The 2.3HO had larger cams, longer cast iron intake, larger bore throttlebody ect.... than the 2.4 LD9 and had around 30 more HP.
I hope the price is wrong
"1998 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 - $6,950"
That is what it said at the top of the page

BTW: This is my Sig.
No wait a minute I'm wrong....the red car does have a genuine 2.3 in it. I must have been looking at it wrong, you can tell from the cruise control location among some other things.
And yea, thats way too much for the car. That white Z24 can't be worth over $3400 mint.
What a stupid looking intake.. lol. It looks he used parts of the stock intake to make it..

Just passed on a Z24 similar to this, same year, same color too
Very over-priced. I was going to pay 3000 for the one I was looking at, and she was mint, other than the fact of the KM's (180-odd) If it only has 30,000 KM's, I'd say go for it, but only if you can get that price down. Even with those super low KM's, it's not worth near 7000 (If that is the price, I thought someone stated it above) The reason I passed on it was because of what my mechanic told me. The waterpump was up for replacement, and to replace a waterpump on these engines isn't quite exactly a quick and easy job. He had one into the shop, and they had to haul apart half the engine to get at it apparently. It also must go back in in sync, or something can go wrong. That was it for me.

If it is, it's a 1995. Cam position sensor + hex drive PS. Could just be a '96-early '99 with some stuff relocated.
1989 Z24 Convertible - Dust Covered
2006 tC - Dust Covered, but driven more
Yep, it's a 1995. I own it and can verify it is a true LO quad 4.
The location of the oil fill cap is the true dead giveaway.
The 2.4 oil fill is in the timing cover.
The 2.3 is in the front of the block with a remote tube up through the manifold.

Hmmm. I think covered it enough and the 2.4 is not the same as a quad, how many times do we have to say
this?

i at least was just answering his questions on the specific car, but yes it seems people arent reading responses above them anymore
