Jbody Frustrations

Hey guys lets make a thread about some things that frustrate you about your car. It should be entertaining...

So during yesterdays monsoon, I got in my car to go get a bite to eat and to my surprise, my seat was soaked!!! As I looked around, I noticed my seatbelt was wet, my center console was wet, my floor was wet, and my trunk was leaking. All this happened all at once and needless to say, I was kinda pissed. The really frustrating part was after I modded something involving a possible entrance for water, I was always sure to water test it. Examples are my trunk swap and my sirius install. I have never had a problem with water before, and this is pretty ridiculous! Something else irritating me is my washer fluid reservoir decided to implode or something... I noticed a lot of smoke coming from under my hood and there was washer fluid all over everything, and the reservoir was open and cocked sideways. Eh, no big deal really but these little probs end up costing me money!!!!!!!

So how about you?

my @!#$ hasnt run right in over two years. I litteraly get my car to the point of where I think its about to be fixed and it takes another @!#$ with something eles that makes no sense.

for instance pj and I were tuning the car and the passlock kicked on and the fan took a @!#$, when I jumped the relay the engine started cranking?

I hate my car. I really do I have at least 5 grand into it and I cant drive. it has caused me more problems in my life then I prefer to go over. its a litteraly a negative drain in my life thats sole purpose is to be problematic.

and yet Ill never stop. as soon as I buy my new place, Im findging a home for the car and Im trying again.

My biggest frustrations with what I'm doing to my car is that there are no rear discs for the rear that came factory. Bad decision by Gm and we have to pay to get what we want.
The other issue is the solid rear axle. Geez, if they can make a Malibu IRS, why not the Cavy?
Other than those little quibbles, I'm happy.

mine had 3 $200+ fixes in a 6 month period so i traded it in for a tacoma. only time i've ever regretted it is when gas went over $2.50.

GO PATS!!!

How about those noisy strut mounts, short-lived blower motor resistors, and those numerous lovely rattles that appear everywhere inside the car when it gets colder out...
Other than that though, mine's treated me quite well. I have friends with comparable models from many other companies (import and domestic) that have spent much more than I've had to so far for maintenance, and I've put many more kilometers on mine (not to mention towing for several thousand of those). I just find these noises frustrating, because there doesn't seem to be a good fix out there that will guarantee I won't hear them for several years again. As long as it still safely rolls down the road, I'll keep driving it - with the radio on loud enough that I won't notice the noises anymore...

If I have to watch the dash rattle in the wife's car..I'm going to poke my eyes out......

Other than that and the 1200 bill I had when the fuel pump committed mass suicide (killed other stuff in it's way out), it has been a good drive....

I've thought about replacing it, but I think I'm going to let the wife drive it into the ground.

And besides the crappy milage (24mpg) on my coupe, it has been a problem free car. A piece of trim broke (very strange), but I'll be replacing that pretty soon.....

With everything going on, I think I'll keep my J's for a while.......

I wish i could get more than 32MPG from the daily

Frustrated with the weather so i cant drive the Z
Other than that i'm happy with them right now

Granted there wer lots of frustrations building the Z, mostly due to the fact that I'm too stubborn to change things from exactly what i want just to make things easier. Most issues were electronic, from making systems that are designed completely different then eachother and not meant to work together- work together and run properly. But hey, it wouldnt be fun if it wasnt a challenge

Shutting my door one time, I took my seatbelt off and let it hang at the side. I got out of the car and it apparently situated itself pointing outward propped up against the seat and when I shut the door the metal part that clicks went right through plastic of the door. Not sure if that's J specific but it's never happened to me before, that's kind of a wtf. So now my door looks like crap. Other then that and a stripped out wheel stud that wouldn't let go of the lugnut (McGards ftw, never happened again!) it's been a pretty ok car. Pretty good for 450 dollars anyway.

same here. i've raced my car, braked hard on it and this and that and never had no cv joint issues, trans issues or anything like others are saying. I guess it depends on the shape of your car. Hell, i didn't even have any rust on mine when i sold it and it has 93,000 on the body and 29,000 on the boosted built motor and the car sat outside for the 5 years i had it.

i had a cv issue but that was do to air ride and riding so slow for over a year and a half it finally wore it out. ive had few little minor issues but nothing that left me without a car for weeks at a time.

No problems at all with my 98'. It spent two years as a "pickup" when I worked in construction, and now she's back to normal. No problems, love the J's!!

well my old Z...loved the car, hated the 2.4...person that had it before me must have ran the @!#$ out of it, which means i got to replace everything.

had enough and got my 04 eco....love it for the most part, only have had 1 problem...the master clutch cylinder hose got a hole...and of course as we all know the dash crack...and the noises when it gets cold..have noticed that.

Still trying to figure out why they didn't offer a factory sunroof in the sedans. They put them in grand ams, why not in the J's

^So the dealers could put in aftermarket ones

I've had little frustrations with my car, hell, when the water pump went the low coolant light came on as I was pullin' in my driveway on Friday evening. Plus, I've learned so much from workin' on it and it led me to JBO

man i love my j. its got 236k and its the original engine and trans..ive had it since 200k and i used it to commute to school for the last year or so...and i mean i beat the piss out of mine. everything from drag to auto cross. and it doesn't get driven on the street any better. i wont part with mine. i just bought an 04 impala this week so ill finally be able to focus on getting the cavy back up to racing standards.
