Ok, so today, out of the blue my car starts flashing it's lights while I have the cruise set. The little green headlight indicator is flashing, but only while the cruise control is activated. Also, I only have 1 DRL ( the passenger side) operational...when I put the brights on or the lights on they both work fine!
Anyone have any idea whats up?
Please help!

I just changed my headlights and BOTH the front DRL's were blown....not sure if that was the cause or was part of the effect...I sure hope it was the cause and not the effect....since i really don't want to have to spend ANOTHER 40 damn dollars for lights.
if anyone has any insite...that would be wonderful.

Hey, I had a stupid problem with the cruise too. When I engaged the turn signal the cruise would disengage for no reason. As it turns out one of the turn signal bulbs was out and when replaced everything worked fine (and has for the last 2 years). I would check all the lights first to see if any other lights are blown.
At this point I'm just throwin' up a guess but if you still have the problem after checking I would have a look at the grounding on your turn/hazard headlamp switch assembly and the turn/hazard flasher. In looking at the electrical layout the turn/hazard headlight switch assembly is connected to your turn/hazard flasher which happens to be connected to your turn/hazard flasher and subsequently the brake switch (why I don't know). The brake switch is connected into your cruise system.
With all the systems connected a bad ground or module could cause your fault... just guessing though.
Good luck and let me know what goes down.
oddly enough the problem hasn't happened again. That was a very odd warning if that is in fact what it was. All the wires were grounded fine... not sure what happened..but it appears to be ok at the moment. Just need to reconnect my dimmer switch..got the car all put back together and I must have pulled a wire out of the dimmer harness! always something else....

Isn't it great how GM decided to run wiring like that? Next thing you know they'll run air bag wiring through the radio harness... oh wait... they've done that.
Take it easy!
That's pretty funny there since the yellow line from fuse 38 (10A) in the fuse block runs right to the radio and from the radio runs via a light green wire to your inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. The yellow line (which runs to the stereo) also has a split which runs directly to the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil (see 12-28 of the Haynes repair manual). Also the wiring harness to swap out stereos is absolutely ridiculous. The harness was created so that the stock radio could be thrown in your trunk while you have your new one in the dash... the reason for the harness?... to keep the wiring for your restraint system (and the door chimes).
Hey if the book wiring diagrams are wrong and the reasoning behind the wiring harness is flawed let me know and I'll take it like a man!
Good ol'
I love a challenge
What can I say? Your Haynes manual is wrong. There isn't even a yellow power wire in the radio harness! Here are some wiring diagrams from the GM Service Information DVD (which I own a copy of):
2004 SIR schematics
2004 radio schematics (Partial, I left out the speakers but they're pretty basic...)
If you can find me a single wire that is common between the two... well, yeah... you won't...
Here's a GM wiring lesson for you. Yellow wires (from the ignition switch, thru the I/P fuse panel) have power in Run, Bulb Test and Start positions. Like the yellow wire that goes to the SDM (Sensing and Diagnostic module, the airbag box under the passenger seat). The radio does not have any connection to this wire. It has an orange power wire, which does not go thru the ignition switch at all... it's constant power from the I/P fuse panel. In fact, the airbags have a separate fuse (marked "AIR BAG") and the radio is shared with the interior lamps, "RDO/INT LPS".
The only yellow wire you'll find in a 2000+ J-body radio harness is circuit #116, which is the left rear speaker output (aka negative terminal). It's a speaker signal. If, somehow, this wire were to be connected to a +12V power source... you're going to hear it.... in the form of loud popping noises as your left rear speaker blows it's voice coil.
We've been over this so many times in the Audio forum, it's not even funny. There is absolutely no correlation between the airbag systems in any GM vehicle on the road today and the stock radio. You can take the stock radio, throw it in the trash, use a radio harness for a Chevy Tracker (Metra 70-2003, you lose the chimes and that's it) to install an aftermarket radio using the rest of the stock wiring, and then proceed to drive into a cement wall at 60 mph and the airbags will still go off. I have a friend who is living proof of this. The fact that people seem to spread this crap makes it difficult for me to bother spending this much time to correct them.... but deep down inside, I hope that others will pick up on it and quash the mis-information.

Sorry man, I don't go that way

My apologies. I appreciate the electrical lesson and I'll be pickin' up the service DVD shortly! Thanks again ... and from this point forward I shall hang my head in shame.
