Hey
I've read a few posts involving starter wiring problems, but I couldn't find anything that helps me out.
I'm trying to coach my parents (mom talks to me via msn while dad does the work) in getting my car to run, as I'm 3 hours away at University. I swapped the engine out while I was at home over Xmas, but didn't have enough time to completely iron out all the bugs. So here's the problem now. The starter needed to be fixed, so we got that done and put it on there. Wired it up and started it. It ran for a couple seconds and then died (Not sure why but that's not the problem right now). The starter kept spinning after that and wouldn't stop. The problem is apparently there is another wire (red) that supposedly comes out of the engine compartment fusebox (there are two red ones, one fused and one not) that was hooked up to the ignition post of the solenoid. Which I'm assuming was causing the constant starter spinning. (Duh... I know)
I guess I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me the wires that are supposed to be on the solenoid, and where they go? Pictures would be great if you have any.
From what I've interpreted from them is that they seem to think this red wire is supposed to go on the solenoid where the constant 12v comes from the battery, but it won't fit (the eyelet is too small). This obviously can't happen because all those wires came off of there and it's the same starter. So all I can think is that it has to go somewhere else, is there anywhere it's supposed to go?
I wish I could go do it myself but I can't get there right now. It wouldn't be a big rush except my Sunbird is starting to make noises that make me nervous lol, so I'd like to get my replacement going, but it's starting to really piss me off.
Thanks in advance.
