disconnecting clutch cable and CV shafts

is there a trick to removing the clutch cable on the Getrag? I know it is a hydraulic clutch... so i guess i wanted to read up before i just yank it off and spew my hydraulic fluid all over.

It looks like there is a lil metal retainer thing, i assume you just pop the metal out, and it slides off?

but is there anything i need to do before that? drain the hyd fluid? de-presurize anything? have rags and plugs handy?

or is it a self sealing connection, and when i disconnect it everything will just be fine.

also... CV shafts... is it true that these just "slide out" of the tranny with a few yanks? or some light prying with a bar... i dont want to bust anything, and then later find out "oh there is a retaining clip"

not sure about the clutch, but the cv shafts need to be pryed out last time i checked. There is a clip holding them in.

yea cv shafts have a clip. but if you use your tire iron jsut pry and it should pop out with a little elbow grease.

JBO lube - they would never have enough in stock and we'd never see RodimusPrime again

CV shaft ends have a wire hog ring kind of "clip" on them in the groove around the shaft

this is all that keeps them locked to the transaxle

pry them out
sometimes they dont want to pop loose

do what you gotta to get them out

however dont pull on the shaft from the outer end,

you will only separate the shafts at the knuckles doing that, and well thats bad even more

sometimes its hard to resist grabbing the outer end and pulling

it wont work or help any or much

so dont do it

a good yank pry at the trans case will pop them out

dont be afeared of applying force

good luck

for the clutch, pop the clip and pull it straight back. you'll get the fluid from the clutch line(its not a cable) pouring out, thats why theres a bleeder screw for use in the future... right next to where you pull the line out.

I just got a crowbar for the cv shafts. Keep in mind if you haven't drained the transmission (plug under driver side shaft) you'll get a reddish pink shower and a nasty mess on the floor when you pop em.
