Loose Steering

I have sifted through all 31 pages of results including 'steering' and can't seem to find anything on it being loose. I know that if the rack and pinion system is going bad that it will cause the steering to tighten up, so that's an area to skip. I also know that the U-joint could be a culprit in my despair. What I don't know is anything beyond that. I will check the U-joint today after work, but I would like to know if there's anything else I should look at while I'm there.

I'm trying to avoid the cost of labor, so it's all done by myself. What are some of the fixes that people have found during their 'loose' experience?

I dont have "loose" steering, but my steering wheel is off center to the right. Its not the alignment tho, cause when u get the car pointed straight and let go of the wheel, it stays straight...

Im so confused...LOL

I had a loose wheel at about 30,000 miles, and it would make a slight clunk when turning the wheel that you could feel in the brake pedal. I had it replaced under warranty and it was the intermediate steering shaft.

There is also a recall on the 2001 Cavaliers (Recall ID# 75915) on the intermediate steering shaft.
