oil leak

Fresh engine build (less than 3000 miles)

Getting some oil seepage from front timing cover...

Should I have used some RTV on that?

I bought a new gasket when I put it together...
Some one told me they are reusable
Should I pull it apart and clean it up and try again?

Or should I use some rtv and the gasket?

Can this be pulled off from the side without pulling engine?

have the same problem with mine, did a timing chain about a month ago and mine is leaking from the front cover as well from the copper gasket. Im going to be buying a new one and put it on soon. to answer your question yea you can change it without pulling the engine you will just have to take both engine mounts out to lower it to get access to one bolt

that sounds like a fun winter job, outside when it's 18 right now..

Well looks like I'll keep putting oil in it for a while...

where is the leak comming from? are you sure its not your Crank seal flinging the oil and making it look like your timing cover?

it's possible but doesn't appear to be...

What the hell thats cheap too I'll just kill all possibilities...

timing seal, water pump access cover, front seal...
