Hi,
A few thought spring to mind, could be other causes but a place to start.
Air filter clogged
Caty converter plugged
Fuel pressure regulator bad
injector or injectors clogged and stuck open spraying fuel all of the time
Dave
is there any way to check and see if it is the fuel pressure regulator?
I'm going to take a shot in the dark and say that you may either have bad spark plug wires or a faulty coil pack. Have someone do the spark plug wire test first by pulling the wire, pop a spark plug into the wire and hold against the valve cover and watch for spark (Be careful when doing this as you could get shocked). If all the wires check out, then you can also eliminate the coil pack from being the problem. From that point it could lead to bad plugs or worse, a bad camshaft. I don't know what plugs you are running, but the best ones to use with the 2.2 LN2 are either the AC Delco's or NGK V-Power. Don't use Autolite!
Try the fuel recommendations first. I'm only posting from my experiences with my 2.2L SFI doing the same thing a few days ago.

Whoa! A year and a half? I think that may be a first step. I'd also check the fuel filter and the regulator just in case. Also, give it a good shot of seafoam to get rid of the gunk in the injectors. Worst thing that would come to mind, if all else fails would be a trip to the repair guys.
