HELP!! 2000 z24 acting stupid
Tuesday, July 07, 2009 7:38 AM
ok ive had my Z for about 5yrs now and never a problem until about a month ago. I got in the car one day and while driving I noticed that the car was very jerky when letting out the clutch. I got to my GF's. I went t rev the car up and it started sputtering. I could stomp the gas petal to the floor and the car would not go over 1000rpms, so I turned the car off and turned it back on and it the car was fine. So I couple days do by and the samething happen. This time I go to take off from stop light and everytime I hit the gas the car would bog down. I finally got it going at got him. Also when im driving it will start bucking all over the place and if I rev the car over 3500rpm it clears up. There is no check engine light, Filter is a New K&N, Fuel filter and plugs are new too. I went and cleaned the throttle out with throttle body cleaner and now the car idles at 1500 all the time. Can anyone help? I changed out the IAC and TPS with a extra one I had just now and its stil doing the same thing.

The jerking sounds like what mine did when the IDI cover went out. Never threw a code but drove like crap at lower RPM's.

For the idle, does it go back down if you disconnect the TPS? If it does, reconnect it, shut the car off and unplug the battery for an hour or so.

It was the ignition coil housing. The part that the spark plug boots connect too. Here's the part on Rock Auto

http://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?carcode=1374803&parttype=7068

I'd go with the delphi or the AC-Delco part.
