Set Timing

So i tore down my engine to put in new lifters and now i need to set my timing from scratch. I had the whole motor apart, now i've got it back together except for timing. I was hoping some of you guys could tell me how to set my timing. Im guessing you put piston 1 at top dead center and then line up the cam's but i just don't know where to line them up. If you could help and might have any tricks please let me know. Thank you

There's a thread in the General forum pertaining to "Updating the JBO faq" where there's a post with links to various manuals, one of which is the Haynes j-body service manual. I'd recommend you download it as I'll bet it has the procedure in it.
