hey, today my check engine light came on my 2000 cavalier z24
now im noticing that when i hit the gas it kinda hesitates and bogs down a bit

is there anyway to check why this lights coming on
or anyone no maybe whats going on?

My first guess is ignition issue....

but the first thing you should do is get the car scanned (or have it scanned) to see what is making the CEL come on.... it will prob make diagnosing it a lot easier..

You can have the code pulled at most parts stores for free....Places like advance auto parts and whatnot..... Could be ignition...could be a sensor...hell my car did that when my o2 sensor went bad...didnt want to run at all until it umm.."learned" for a lack of words that the sensor was bad....so start with a scan.. let us know from there!

First things first definetly take it to an auto parts store and get the code its blowing.

But my 01 z did the same thing and one of the rubber hoses coming off of the throttle body going to a sensor on the side of the throttle body had a small cut in it. Replaced the tube costed me like 1 dollar.

But for future reference it will be a lot easier for you to figure out problems if you get the code checked.
