New headlight issue... help needed!
Saturday, October 24, 2009 9:04 PM
Alright in my other post my problem was that the headlights (low beams) and DRL's did not work.... went and got a new switch and swapped that in... that worked for a day...

Then all of a sudden the same symptoms.... did some fuse testing/pulling... replaced the DRL relay... and made 100% sure both bulbs were good. still nothing except high beams...

So I started to pull apart the harness from where the main plug is (just before the battery).... found a weak spot that I noticed mentioned in a lot of the posts about headlight issues.... did some digging and found a few damaged wires... patched them up...

Now I have good low beams.. good high beams... but my DRL's are still weird... The drivers side DRL is not very bright... ran a meter on it and it's getting roughly 3.4 volts while the passenger side is getting around 4.6 which seems normal.

now I've been reading over my 2 car bibles... ie the gm repair manuals.... and I see that they're saying after you have an issue with your DRL's you should go to the dealership to get your BCM reflashed....

Does anyone know if this will fix this new issue?? I don't want to put it all back together unless there's I am certain this will solve this new issue..

so summary! headlights now work... DRLs work.. but drivers side is very dim...

update... played around today and did some more wire splicing... basically any wire that looked in any way damaged was replaced..

also pulled apart the ground connector and cleaned it very very good...

The problem remains that the drivers side DRL is dim... the DRL relay clicks 3-4 times... (it has been replaced)....

I am really stumped on this one... looking for some suggestions before I put it all back together

Only issue remaining now is that the drivers side DRL is weak... there's no difference in brightness between either side on high or low... just on DRL... still looking for ideas..
