On the 2.2 Ecotec motor. I would like to ask what you are seeing for oil pressure after the motor is up to operating temp?? Thanks
Im usally around 25-30psi AT operating temp at idle.
Sounds about right. It also should kick up with RPM, to as much as 60-70 PSI at full bore.
General rule of thumb on all engines: so long as you have at least 10 PSI for each 1000 RPM, all is well

Thanks Guys .. I just seem to have low pressure.. After the motor gets to 195f / 200f deg the oil pressure drops to 15 / 18 psi at idle. then running down the road it's only 22 / 25 psi .. when i sit in the driveway and rev it up to 3500 /4000 rpm the pressure is still only 25 / 28 psi ... I have not gone even close to WOT (not tuned) so I'm not sure what it is then .. thanks again
Check your gauge too. Try another one to be sure. Is it electric? If yes, they are notoriously erratic.
How many miles on this engine?

Yeah I have both electric and a manual gauge the man gauge i put in after I noticed the low psi .Both gauges are reading the same. I 'm not sure how many miles on the motor (junkyard motor) however I just pulled a motor out and replaced it with this motor .. the motor I pulled out of the car would only hold about 10 psi at idle and only 20 psi max no matter what rpm . that motor only had 3500 miles ...before i pulled the first motor I replaced the hole oil pump , cover , bypass valve assy . still no change
I have to ask is the psi lower in the head then in the block ?(Stock oil psi hole) I have the gauges hooked up at the oil plug on the exhaust side of the head on the drivers side end of the motor
Yes if you are tapped into the side of the head you will read a lower pressure...Your oil pressure sounds like mine,I think you will be ok..My motor has been like that for some time now.
Yes, def check on the block. Oil flow to the head is reduced.

Ok thanks I will remove the manual gauge and put it in the block fitting..
.
Update on the oil psi problem
Today I got around to putting the manual pressure gauge on the block in the factory oil sending hold..
I left the ele gauge installed in the head outlet.
The oil psi at the head at idle is 50 psi cold.. 20 psi hot .. running down the road at 60mph its 25 psi hot .. in the driveway when rev 'ed up 75 psi max cold .. when hot max is 40 psi
The oil psi at the Block at idle is 80 psi cold.. 60 psi hot .. running down the road at 60 mph 80 psi hot .in the driveway when rev 'ed up 120 psi cold ..when hot 90 psi ...
The car should be tuned next weekend so a WOT run will be tested soon.
Thanks guys for the input ....
.
25-30 is ok on the head good lol i was freakin out lol i went and payed a 100.00 at auto zone to get the parts to rebuild the oil punp to bump from 25 up to 30 psi warn up when runing
wish i searched first but now i know my oil presser is fine
so should i swap to the port on the block my ? is what port did u all used did u use a t-fitting were the stock oil presser is ir is there another spot to put the oil presser gauge on the block
I just unscrewed the Factory oil sending unit and screwed the manual oil pressure gauge in its place ..I plan to put the Ele gauge in place of the manual one soon..
ok so your not runing the stock oil presser at all how does the ecm like that ???
im not running mine either i took out my stock one and put a electric sender unit in its place and i have no problems no engine light either
