easiest way to swap engine

easy story,
engine is crapping out, found and engine, now I need it in.

I am just replacing the engine and wondered what would be easier, trying to remove the engine without the tranny attached, or try and take it out as one part.

I don't have a car hoist to use so it will need to come out the top.

any tips would be a huge help.

I searched a little, but didn' t want to waste a lot of time when others have good tips for me.

thanks
steve

I took mine out with the trani just a couple months back. Your going to want to rent a engine crane or borrow one from a friend, I dont know how els you can take the motor out without a crane. Park close to a tree and use chain? lol You can take out the motor without the trani if you want too. If I only had to swap blocks I think id remove the trani with it. Just makes it easier I found. Oh and I supported the engine weight with the crane and then took the mounts of the trani and motor as well, it just gave me some more room to move/twist the motor. From what i remember we twisted the block towards the fire wall, the trani came angled towards the front of the car and out she came.
