Extended Crank when Engine is Hot

Hello all, this is my first post and I have quite the problem with my cav. It is a 2001 Z24 2.4L engine with 100k miles. One day my car started to shake and almost stall out at red lights, the Tach would go crazy. I took it to the dealership and they said the O2 sensor was bad. So I the sensor gets replaced and I soon noticed a new problem. My car will crank just fine when it is cold. If I use the car and go to the store or to a restaurant then try to crank the car, it takes quite a while( like 1.5-2 seconds) to get the car cranked. Some times it will start and almost stall out, but I hit the gas pedal to rev the engine and everything is fine. The problem is annoying, but no CE light ever came on till this past weekend. So i finally decided to take it to a shop and have someone look at it. I took it to a shop and they checked the fuel pressure coming out of the fuel pump and they said it was 80 PSI, which is well above the specified operating range (according to them). So, I had them replace the fuel pump and yet, the problem still exists. They don't know whats wrong and I need the car to go to school n stuff. So, does anyone have an idea of what is going on? ill try to stay on for a little while and answer questions to anyone willing to help.

not 100% so i normally wouldnt even say anything... But i figure something is better then nothing right? lol

I, myself, have never heard of a fuel pump being replaced because its working too well... If you have excess fuel pressure, the FPR will just dump any fuel it doesnt need back to the gas tank..

My opinion (which isnt professional, so dont take it as such) is if you actually have 80psi in the line, theres a blockage somewhere... fuel filter, line, bad FPR etc.. all of which are much much cheaper then the pump... so worth looking at imo

I would replace the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail .. sounds like its bad and its dumping way too much fuel this is why its running ruff .. also it could be the reason its slow to start up when warm..

Good luck ...

The fuel pump relay is cheap (about 15 bucks). It can be going bad when its heated up under the hood. If it quits the oil pressure sending unit has a back up circuit that enables the pump to operate if the relay fails BUT only after it senses about 7psi oil pressure. So it will crank longer before starting.
My 2 cents anyway.
