On my 02 beater cavy my left rear drum is sticking I think. When I apply the brakes at a stop the damn left rear end dips farther down than the rest of the car. Then when I let up off the brake the rear rises back up. Now, is the drum sticking all of a sudden? It's weird, the only time ive dealt with drums is to rip em off for my neon swap conversion
Help me out, should I just take the housing off and clean everything in there and see if that helps?
Thanks.

Sounds to me you got a problem with youre wheel cyls. I would replace em both should correct youre braking problem.
GoodLuck.
Just fixed this problem yesterday. Put monroe pads and new spring kit on and good as new. I thought wheel cylinders too but mine were fine.

LOL, yeah around here they call it spring kits, it's all the springs that keep your shoes on. If your gonna put new brake shoes on I would buy the spring kit too, it's only like 13 bucks.

Sounds to me like the left rear cylinder is the only one working. When you let off the brakes and it releases its not sticking. I would replace both rear wheel cylinders and be sure and bleed the system really good. The above mentioned springs are a really good idea, as they are cheap insurance against failure.
You say cylinders, everybody has their own termonology for parts lol, are you talking about the replacing the HUBS?
So my left rear is not sticking, thanks for clearing that up.

The brake cylinders not hubs. The hydraulic cylinders that the brake lines hook up to. They are not too expensive but you need to know what you're doing because its what stops your car. If one is not working (your right rear) then the other one is probably soon to fail as well. They used to sell rebuild kits but stopped because somebody decided the general public don't know what we are doing. The good thing from that is cylinders and even front brake calipers cost came way down.
What happens to wheel cylinders is the brake fluid attracts moisture and rust develops inside the cylinders and lines. So its not uncommon for them to fail after a time. Its a good practice to rent a pressure brake bleeder and flush out the system whenever you brake a line open and have to bleed the brakes. what you do is hook up the bleeder and start with the right rear wheel and bleed it until the fluid looks more like Bud lite instead of Amber Bock. Then go to the left rear then right front then left front doing the same.
