Has anyone ever had a issue with getting the wrong half shaft?
i have a 97 Z24 m5 and it has both smaller shafts with the intermediate shaft and I'm having a issue finding right one.
has anyone else had this issue?

Are you sure you have a '97? And what on earth is an m5? My guess is it's a '95 with a 2.3L in it, which has an intermediate shaft. As far as I know, there aren't any 2.4L Z24's that had same length axles.

You should have a shorter shaft on the drivers side, and then a longer one on the passenger side.

All the parts stores are going to do away with the intermediate shaft and they will give you a regular "long" cv shaft. I have looked through this at work.
It will still work, but will increase the possibility of torque steer. I have a spare passenger side equal length style shaft laying in my shed I will have to look, but could you use a drivers side on pass side instead?
im not sure i will find out this week....
Its a $488 part that has been discontinued from the dealer. Unless one has them and want to ship it to me..
it maybe time to talk to my boy and have some customs built i will need them down the road anyway...

The shaft on the passenger side is almost twice as long (and thicker) then the one on the drivers side.
when I removed mine I just left it all one piece with the idler bearing hooked to it. I honestly dont know why the hell GM felt the need for it to be there.
The design you have with the intermediate shaft on the pass side does use the same cv shaft as the drivers side. Just go buy a drivers side cv and you will be fine.
awesome guys thanks
