Radiator fan removal/replacement

We've concluded that this thing is dead. Now the next step is to take it out and replace it. What's the easiest way to do it on an 05 SF?

Dont know if your SF is the same as most but it should be relatively easy. It has 4 bolts that are actually screws into plastic. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery then unplug the old fan. Remove the 4 screws and remove the fan. Its not very big. Most chiltons manuals or others will show how to do this with pictures. Not a bad investment to get a copy.

Stopped at the Auto Zone today and they are going to order a Haynes book for me. That's a good first step.

I assume the fan has to come out through the bottom, you can't lift it out the top?

Pull off the intake manifold first of all. On the bottom of the fan shroud on passenger side, there is a 10mm bolt. Take it out. Unclip the 2 clips on the drivers side of the radiator. Pull up and out away from the radiator.
Done. installation is the reverse of removal

Don't even need to take off the intake manifold. Unplug the fan, remove the two clips and bolt. Now lift up (with a little force, don't worry about cracking it, it's already broken.) and lift it off it's "hooks" on top of the radiator. Now wiggle it down between the core support and the intake manifold. I believe there is either a vacuum or heater hose you may need to flex in order to get the fan motor to clear. Other than that, it's really really easy.

Well I ended up just gettign a replacement fan motor. It was a lot cheaper. I'll just have to be more careful removing the fan so I don't break anything!

Success! At least partially.

The new fan motor is in, and when I turn on the a/c, the fan comes on like it should. Without the a/c going, the fan still doesn't come on when the temp goes up past where I think it should be coming on.

I know I need to check the ECT, but I can't remember where the heck that thing is.
