i have a 98 sunfire 2.2 and i need to replace the ckp sensor but cant get to it. are there any suggestions? i appreciate the help

jack the front end of the car up. the whole thing. crawl under, look up at the back of the engine, and it'll be right there.

i know wereit is i just cant get between the engine and tranny to get it out

was trying to replace this same thing on saturday, had to go at it from the bottom.. problem is that the both the hole in the block and the size of the sensor tip are 19mm. so even after loosening it, i still couldn't get it out, was really afraid i would break the tip off and have it lay in my oil pan. and suggestions for actually removing it?

ack. didnt realize this thread was a year old. sorry. but i still need any input on how to get that sensor out of the block. thanks!

Just keep pulling, it wont break off, it will pop out sooner or later, there a PITA but they will come out. I would let the car cool off, then try and get it out. It will come out it just takes some persuasion. You can also get to it from the top of the motor, its just a little harder. I got the one out of my girls 97 2.2 sunfire by getting a screwdriver in there, and using that to pry it out. Goodluck, and dont be scared, it a slim chance it will break off.
