Anybody replaced their air conditioning clutch? How hard is it? Does the compressor need to be replaced? Mine has a bad bearing in it. Is it possible just to buy the bearing? I don't want to spend $108 for the clutch at the auto parts store when the pulley and everything on mine is still good.

I'm assuming the bearing is gone in my A/C compressor, as the A/C works really great, but the loud whirling noise from the compressor doesn't change or go away as the A/C clutch is turned on or off.
This might be more info that you were looking for but...
My plan is to remove the bearing from a used A/C compressor, and put it into the compressor in my car. (GM/Delphi DA-6).
I don't want to disconnect any of the A/C lines (as I don't' want to have the A/C system purged/serviced when it may not need it), so I
will be attempting to swap the bearing without removing/disconnecting the A/C compressor from the car.
I'm currently awaiting for tools on order to arrive, but I will be attempting the swap with some wrenches, a snap ring wrench, and a tool like
this tool, to remove the clutch.
If the used bearing doesn't work out for me (and assuming it turns out it is in fact bearing that is the problem), then I'll have to look at ordering a new bearing.
One U.S. online parts store I found has a new bearing listed
this site at about $50.
It's part #5 on the diagram below.
These two site links also provided me with some good information:

Good luck!
Good Luck changing the clutch assy on the car. You can buy an entire compressor for about 200. Of course you'll need to deal with vacuuming and charging the system with r 134a. Not really hard to do.
wow.... its your belt tensioner!!! i had the same problem that squealing noise when i would crank up the ac or turn it on period. it goes away like 10 mins later but i found the trick other than fixing it... when i turn on my ac i keep my car over 1.5 rpms and the noise is gone...
dont go wild... cars are simple and factory things barely go wrong its the cheap attachments chevy put on there. i will buy a new one but i need a clutch first m/
