Ignition cylinder replacement

Does anyone know how to match up an ignition cylinder with my existing keys? Does a new cylinder come with instructions on how to do that so it'll match and have the correct resistance for passlock?

Your car may do 13 sec @ 103 mph, but my car does 146db @ 35 hz.

for the key thing: any locksmith worth his salt can repin it to fit your keys. as for the theftlock resistance: that's why it does the relearn, you change one of the components, and the system relearns he resistance of said component. at least, that's how it was explained to me...

That's correct Rich. There's a hall effect sensor inside of the ignition. The tumblers in different heights give off the resistance. That's why some cars the key fits and turns, but won't start the car, and you can't just use a screwdriver and turn it.

You're just not using the right screwdriver... keep trying til you find one that works

If you order a brand new lock cylinder from GM... they'll code it for you.

Thanks John. That was going to be my next step, but it looks like it was the PCM connector. Runs now, but still no serial data gauges.
