I'm having a leak from the seal behind the crank pulley.

Its a 2.2 ecotec

I believe that would be the rear main seal.

Front main seal.... he said behind the crank pulley.

actually FRONT main seal (or front crank seal) is the correct name. I got mine from a local AC/Delco carrier - though you could get it from the dealership, after being raped of course.

Autozone and Napa will look at you like a deer staring into headlights when you ask them for this, and with a little bit of online research, they only carry kits for the whole timing cover, not just the front main.

Also, you may want to check you pcv system, and ensure its not clogged, because most of the time when a front (or rear) main goes, its because pressure built up in the motor and had no where else to go.

How would I go by checking the pcv system?
There isn't a ac delco place around here.

its a front crank seal

GM part # 12584041
$5.72 + tax and shipping at www.gmpartsdirect.com

Also you need a new crank balancer bolt as it is torque to yield:
Couldnt find the part number for it online
Tighten the bolt to 100 N·m (74 lb ft) plus 75 degrees

Have fun lol

I just had to end up going to like the 5th auto zone to get there whole $25 set. There isn't anywhere around here that sells just the seal. I got it done though and it doesn't seem to leak anymore!
I just used the same crank bolt.

if you had gone to any auto part store with the number i'd given you, not told them what it was for, they could have gotten you just the seal.

Try going somewhere besides Autozone. From my experience they dont exactly hire the smartest people there and their customer service just all around sucks.
