I searched some posts but they were older posts and didnt really see any answers on them. So here we go again, 2002 Cav and when I drive for longer periods the traction light comes on and it will die sometime at a light, when I leave from a stop it will rev up and slam into the next gear, while driving you can feel the rpms going up and down.
If I shut it off and start it back up it will be ok but if I continue driving for long periods again it will eventually come back on...thanks Pete
Might be an oxy sensor, had something similar happen to me, and that was the cause.

Did it also cause a sputter of sorts too?? My girls car (my headache) just started doing something similar to it and it had died twice on her, then started back up and no issues. But I also noticed when driving it, and it was doing that, that it seemed like it was really badly missfiring and you can hear pops under the car almost like backfiring. So im not sure whats going on with this thing lol. And its soo intermittent its hard to diagnose it.

Yeah, I thought it was amazing how much a bad oxy sensor can @!#$ with your car. When mine went bad, the tranny was shifting real hard, ran really really rich, stalled a few times and the traction control light was on. I would check that out, Mike
Thanks alot, I may just throw one at her car, maybe mine too, since my vert loves to idle like dog poop and i get crappy gas mileage, and the things shifts like it has a shift kit on her. HMmmmm, I didnt even know that the sensor could cause that much of a issue. Interesting. lol.
Really?? the oxy sensor will mess up cause the tract light to come and shift hard? I can understand the car dying but that is weird it will mess with the traction control.
Pete and Mike, I was just as surprised as you guys when I took the advice of the guy at autozone (most of them are dumb as rocks, but I've developed a rapport with the 75 year old guy who stocks parts) and all of my issues just magically disappeared. I dont want to make any guarantees but its definitely worth a shot for being a $15 part. Best of luck to both of you.
Hahaha, I dont disbeleive you. And yes most AZ guys are stupid as hell. It is nuts how it effects even the most opposite things with the car. Thanks tho Cavaclysmic, I see your frustration with this post
But like you said, 15 bucks isnt going to kill anyone, and hell, ill prolly do it to both my J's just because lol. Ill keep everyone posted!
where the hell did you find an o2 sensor for $15??? cheapest i found on advance (where i buy most of my parts) is $50.

AZ in NY had mine for like $15-$16 with tax... What type of motor do you have? I have an eco, might make a difference, honestly dont know the price differences between an eco and other J motors. $50 is absurd.
