Hey guys. My girls car is literally going to be the death of me. The CE light is on with the TRAC OFF light also. Now car runs ok while driving, until you pull up to a light, and 95% of the time, nothing will happen, but once and while (4 times just today alone) it will randomly stall, but start right back up no issues, keep going, and come to the next light, and either its fine or it stalls. Always starts up first try, and just randomly stalls. Now this engine me and my buddy went through and installed a re-machined crank (when I bought the car, it had the notorious #3 spun bearing) and new bearings, new heater hoses, new oil pan gasket, new Coolant Temp Sensor, and all that fun stuff. Car ran great for a few months. Now, when I put the car back together, I forgot to install the IAT sensor on the hose, and the CEL kicked on, so I just never paid attention to it. Till the car started randomly stalling on my GF and today it did it 4 times, in about a 2-3 hour window. So I said enough is enough.
I got the car to my house (drove it no real issues other then a slightly rough idle and sometimes when I hit the accelerator it would hesitate for a quick second, then take off no issues). I pulled the codes, and holy hell, it has 6 codes in there. They are as follows.
PO118
PO141
PO753
PO171
PO758
PO1810
I know the PO118 is for the coolant temp sensor, and thats been replaced bc the connector was broken, so i took care of that one.
Po141 is O2 heater sensor heater circuit fault> Possible just bad O2?? Ideas?
PO753-I have no idea???? Ideas???
PO171-system adaptive fuel too lean??? I have no idea. Ideas???
PO758- I have no idea??? Ideas?????
PO1810- Again, no idea?? Ideas????
Thanks guys for the help. Im starting to pull my hair out. Im not trying to really rebuild this motor again, bc tax season its gone. I just need it to last her that long. Pls I really dont want it to strand her with her little boy. Thats my biggiest issue. So for now she has my car, and I have hers, since if it finally dies on me no biggie, on her, bad ju-ju lol. Thanks again guys.
OH BTW. The car is a 1996 Cavalier Ls Convertible with a 2.4 LD9

Quote:
P0171....System too Lean (Bank 1)
P0753....Shift Solenoid 'A' Electrical
P0758....Shift Solenoid 'B' Electrical
P1810....ATF pressure manual valve powition switch malfunction
thats about all i can help with. i cant diagnose for sh*t. good luck
My suggestion would be to delete the codes and see which ones come back first and start there. I would probably replace the O2 sensor as well, and check the grounding points on the electrical system just to make sure theyre clean.

Tabs, thanks alot ill look into them and see what I can figure out.
Matt, Yeah I cleared them, and One of the guys here has a snopon computer, so he hooked it up, and seems like both of the O2's are working just fine, but according to the readings, and him listening to the motor while running, there is a huge vaccuum leak. So im going to pick up some carb cleaner tmo and bring the car back to work, and he is going to help me find it. We all think that since I have had to remove the intake after the initial rebuild (new gaskets on the intake when installed again when engine was rebuilt) that it could be leaking from there, since you can hear a slight whistle fomr the intake area. But thanks guys!!!
UPDATE!!
Took the car yesterday to work, and sprayed down the number 2 injector, and the top of the intake manifold and the car stumbled hard. So I went picked up a new oring kit and replaced all the o-rings on the injectors, and installed a brand new intake manifold gasket, and she seems to have cleared up. Ill find out more tmo when I driver her longer, but im willing to be the injector was the issue since the oring came off easily and the others needed to be "picked" off, the intake gasket prolly didnt need to be replaced but I did it since I was there. So we will see, keep your fingers crossed
