did anyone ever have one of these break an cause no damage 4 days ago my car jus shut off no noise or signs of a problem jus blah so i took an put in a spare i had an took apart the one in the car the chain didnt break jus one gear i wonder if an new chain an gears would b all i need to fix is there any simple ways to c if anythings wrong we turned it over a few times before takin it apart an it jus whined

I would pull off ur head just to make sure. Im almost sure you hit valves. Reguardless if there was noise or not. These engines are intereference IIRC and im sure you smacked some of the valves. Pull off ur head since ur going to have the engine torn down anyways. Better to throw the extra time in now, instead of doing all the work in fixing the gear, to find out u have bent valves. Plus since ur there already go ahead and replace the chain, all the wear shoes, and tensioner. Im not sure what engine you have but if u have the 2.4 throw a water pump in since ur there already and makes it 100 times easier to do it now, instead later on when u need it since ur messing with the chain anyways. But im sure you smacked some valves, if u havent, either ur lucky as hell or it didnt break as bad and kept the valves from staying open which is lucky as hell. But check the head just in case.
