Installed a b&m shift plus today and went to start the car and nothing... wont crank over. theft light goes off so not a theft prob... i double checked everything to make sure i hooked it all up right, it was all good. Took the b&m off and returned to stock and still wont start... HELP!
Battery termianls loose? Neutral safety switch also will prevent the engine from turning, and the ignition switch just guessing but most likely you messed with the batt terminals or disconected one and forgot to put it back...good luck.
You forgot something, or left something loose. Sit down and think about the process.
Yeah get a meter out check your voltage at the batt, alter. If it ran fine then u do a mild change it seems to point to something simple.Heck even tap the starter could be a stuck solenoid.Gives the elusion of a dead batt,or crappy alter since it did not even click, click, click then start.Loco but, just take a look at things not working on it first.Even checking the fuses not that it is relevent.
What is the neutral safety swith and where is it at?
I checked everything, nothing. the battery is hooked up fine. all lights come on and when i turn the key just the check engine light stays on. I am starting to think i pulled a wire loose out of the trans plug. so ill be heading to pull a part today to get one and try to replace it. any more suggestions??
The neutral sfety switch on oumatic transmissions is on top of it where the shift cable is attached to. It signals the comp. when the trans is in park or neutral allowing it to start only on those locations. If you got a manual I´m not sure I think the safety mechanism is in the clutch it must be prsseed to allow the engine to start although autos got another safety device in the brake pedal thats why you have to push the brake so it will start.
ok, i effed up my car lol. i spliced a new trans plug on and forgot to mark some of the wires before splicing into them soooo... now the car starts it just stays in second gear... blah. so ill be going to pull a whole wiring harness at the local pull a part. ill keep you all updated,.
