High Idle
Sunday, September 18, 2011 11:46 PM
I have a 01 Cavy 2.4 manual, and my car is idling at 1600 all the time, i replaced the TPS sensor, and that didn't do anything, so i replaced the Idle Air Control Valve, and that didn't do it anything either, im thinking a vaccum leak but not sure, any suggestions on where I can start???

Thanks

had same problem...My upper intake gasket was leaking... easy way to check for it is to take a long piece of vacuum hose, put one end in your ear and with the other end probe around everywhere there is a vacuum hose connected as well as all around the upper intake gasket and around the throttle body gasket. If you start hearing a hiss, you've found it. Once I replaced the gasket the rpms went to 650.
good luck

plyers squeezing vac lines at the manifold is also a good way to check vac leaks...if the idle changes, that line has the leak...follow it around...for intake gasket, spray carb cleaner....listen to idle
