i just bought a 90 cavalier 2.2 Auto with 73k original miles at least i think its 73k not 173k because of the great shape the body is in
but anyways i need to change the fuel pump in it
I would like to know how long it will take? What tools i will need? and Whats the easiest way to do it?
All help is appreciated
Tools should be minimal, hand tools and maybe an air impact if you need it. get the back end up on jack stands/wheel ramps and block the front wheels so it doesn't roll.. remove fuel lines/filler neck pump wires... support fuel tank with a jack (I hope there isn't too much fuel in it) remove tank straps, lower gas tank down and pull out. should be a ring around fuel sending unit apparatus thinger that you have to spin counter clockwise to get it loose. once thats off just pull it up out of there and change your pump and strainer. Also, not sure on a 90 but your exhaust might be in the way of the tank, might need removed or find a way to maneuver the tank around it.
Should only be a couple hour job if you've never done it before. its pretty simple i think, just gotta tackle it.
