I have a 98 cav, 2200 5 speed and when i turn the key the gauges all twitch and the gas gauge acts normal. the temp gauge doesn't work at all, and the speedo works fine. I also have no dash lights and the DRL light is blinking. All the gounds are good and everything is plugged in. Could someone explain to me how to fix this or what is going wrong?

mine did that a few weeks ago...but for some reason my battery died like instantly....and the car wouldnt turnover....soo id suggest gettin ur battery checked

Blinking DRL light means that one of your bright headlights is burned out.

well the battery is brand new and i never knew about the drl being caused by the high beam, pretty cool. oh well.
can i swap the cluster from a z24 directly or swap it from any other j so i can have a tach?

Yes. You'll just have to do a quick relearn procedure for the anti-theft system after swapping.

try another dimmer control dial?

is the CTS bad? try another one. they do fail occasionally
