Hi everyone. I have a 2002 Cavalier that supposedly had all braking components replaced last year. The tires are also under a year old. The car tracks straight but has some vibration at around 80/90 km/h. It does not pull when braking.
The brakes feel great until <20km/h a shake starts which is not felt in the brake pedal or the steering wheel. The slower you go the more violent it becomes. When almost at a stop it feels like you are driving with an egg shaped tire (side to side).
My best guess is something is going on with the drum brakes in the rear since I'm not feeling it in the steering wheel. Someone suggested that the drum may be out of round and at high speeds the pads are just skipping over it.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
It sounds like the drums are warped. Just to double check, I'd try and retorque your lug nuts, it might sound stupid but it's worth a try.
