The A/C compressor on my car is grinding like crazy. I am trying to find out if the 2.2L and 2.4L engines use the same compressor. I'm not about to sink another couple hundred into this car. Its a 96 Z24 auto. Also I was wondering if I could bypass the a/c compressor w/ a shorter belt or is the belt system routed so that you have to have an idler pulley in place of the compressor? I know some cars you can just get a shorter belt while others you need to put an a/c delete bracket w/ an identical sized idler pulley in place of the a/c compressor.
No, they are different.
