Hi everyone,
Here is the deal. My car stood outside for half of feb and all of march. It was fine before going for hibernation.
Now! I get in, start it up. Get going and EVERYTHING klunks and creeks. The breaks sound like garbage but that went away. My koni reds were creeking but that slowly went away too. There were nasty rubber klunking sounds when I turn and it's not as bad as it was two weeks ago but you can still hear it. Anybody know what is going on here? It still klunks a bit when turning both ways at low speeds. If you corner going 30 it doesn't do anything.

I'm getting alot of creeking clunking too from mine too...
Whenever I turn the wheel it creeks like crazy, and I get alot of clunking when I hit bumps, noise that should not be there...
At first I thought it was my struts going bad, but I don't think thats it now...
Any ideas?

could also be your imagination ,like when u fix your car and take it for a test drive to see if stuff works, youll turn thr radio down and listen, and hear things u normally dont hear when the radios on or your not paying attention, know what i mean?

Thats what my dad said about it being 'normal cavalier noises' but I don't want to believe it. It's annoying as hell...

heres another thing
if before you drove the car eveyday, or often you got used to the noises it makes, so u didn't hear them any more. they just became part of the background. you basically forgot how the car sounds. and now every noise is new
It's like a paranoia. Every time I hear a new noise, I start to think what the hell it could be. I've been told by a GM technician that the noises are normal to these cars as they and that is why they are less expensive than other cars. Kind of a "you get what you pay for thing." If all else fails, TURN UP THE RADIO!!

Also its like you have been asleep for 6 weeks and then suddenly wake up from a coma... Your body is going to feel weird and your bones are gonna make sounds that dont sound normal.
Its pretty common, thing to have happen to all cars, My friends moms car is 6 years old its a honda, The car sat for 4 months in the winter in the garage, Upper motor mount snaped, Same with my 01 cavalier just weather changes, Things make noises, Just got to keep an eye on youre cars, Usually squeeks can be gone with lithium silicone grease, I know even my doors need it when it rains alot.
i just turn up the monsoon system...the only thing gm got right and just forget i am driveing a sunfire way to many little noise's
or it could be your cv joints. Thats usualy a dead giveaway if it only makes knocking sounds while your turning at low speeds...look behind the brake discs and your cv shaft should be protruding from a boot there, check to make sure the boot isnt torn or leaking, thats usualy what causes the knocking, is when fluid leaves the axle and they start grinding. If it is, you need to get those replaced ASAP, cause when they go bad and lock up, your not goin anywhere. Good luck
I agree with Ben Mallow. I took my 2000 sunfire into the dealership and asked them what was going on up there. They said it was the cv joints. They greased it up and the noise went away for a while, until the rains came (pacific northwest!) and the creaks are back again. They also said its a common problem. One person their told me to them replaced, while another said not to worry about. Meh. I heard its an expensive fix so I'm leaving it be until it gets worse
our cars are economy cars man, they just make noises sometimes. I've learned not to expect too much from it.

How exactly did they "grease up" your CV joints?
