I had a question on a weird popping sound.. sounds like its coming from my left front axle... Usually whenver i turn sharp or say go up a drive way or something like that it will pop... i didn' t know if that was my cv joint or what, i just had my right from cv joint replace and it was so bad they had to rebuild the axle for it... also whenever i drive down the road and i hit the brakes they like.. grip and then slide a bit.. feels kinda as if there were ice in them in small patches or something, i'm not sure.. if you have any idea Help !!!
C.V Shaft or upper strut mount kit.
Dont rebuild CV Shafts, buy reman ones or new ones.

check lower control arm bushings and check for broken stabilizer link pins
Could it also maybe be my front strut? does the popping sound mean thtat the strut is blown ? or is it fixing to blow?
Not sure what year your car is, but I had this problem with my 03 Alero and the dealer performed this TSB and it fixed it. Mine would do it when turn in a parking lot or driveway. Check this out:
TSB 02-03-08-008; Popping Type Noise from Front of Vehicle When Turning (Replace Both Front Stabilizer Shaft Insulator Brackets); 2002-03 Chevrolet Cavalier, Oldsmobile Alero, Pontiac Grand Am, Sunfire with FE1 or FE2 Suspension
I have a VERY similar problem, the cause is my upper strut mounts, which I will be replacing soon.
The dealer quoted me a price of about $650...
Yea, I got the parts for a 95-99 Cavalier (Upper strut mounts & spring seats) for Approx $120.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
Its just when like i am going down a road and i might turn into my driveway and my driveway is slanted and it might be at like a 130 degree angle or something, if that helps lol. and it will pop whenever the left front wheel/tire hits it.. or when i pull into say, wal-mart or blockbuster the curb is slanted, it pops.. to me it sounds some waht like a busted cv joint, cause i just had my right one rebuilt but the guy said the left was in great condition.. cars are so complicated
good lord.
