I make a daily commute to work everyday.... and if i take the city route, it is 26.5kms... and if i take the highway route it is 28.5kms.
My highway gas mileage is 45mpg, and my city is 35mpg.
i calculated that it costs memore fuel to take the highway route.
Think it is best to take a dive and pay the extra for fuel on the high for reduced engine wear/tear...
OR go thru the city and save some cash everyday ?
thanks
I dunno. but 45mpg sounds awefully high. maybe 45kpg
My Car
i actully rounded down....my best highway was 48mpg
well with 48MPG I wouldnt be complaining about either...Im gettin like 28mpg pretty much either way
ya really I HATE GAS $$$'s
96 Sunfire, 2.4L Twin Cam 5 Spd, estimated 180hp
If I hit 30mpg I'd throw a party.......................
Topping out at 48mpg you should be happy.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
I think you calculated wrong.
city
26.5 km = 16.52 miles @ 35mpg = 0.472 Gallons
highway
28.5 km = 17.7 @ 45mpg = 0.393333333 Gallons
Highway driving is way easier on your car as well.
I'm not even hitting 25 mpg anymore and I can't figure it out. I guess I'm going to have to check into changing the fuel filter here shortly and see if that helps improve my gas mileage. That hasn't been done in over 30,000 miles probably.
