Need to see if there is a write-up on changing the front hubs on a 2000 Z24 auto. I have looked everywhere and can't find anything? I can go and buy the parts but would just like some added know-how before I started. Anyone done it themselves? Any special tools needed?
Thanks, Shane
Thanks ... I went to a dealership and they said the hub was dry and that was where the thumping and squealing was coming from so that has to mean the bearings are shot. So that's what I'll be replacing this weekend.
Thanks Again, Shane
Not a problem.
You'll need to preload the bearings by torquing the new bearing assembly to 180lb ft.
You will probably also need some WD-40 or equivalent, and if your wheel bearing assembly is really rusted on to the spindle, I used a metal chisel to break it free.
Other than that, everything else you need is listed on the site.
Good luck.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
I just replace my whole hub assembly. Deffinetly try to get your hands on a air hammer.

A hammer and metal chisel will work just fine if you don't have access to an air hammer...
