Ok my check engine light came on today on the freeway. so i go to my dads house and plug the scanner in and theres nothing. the scanner wont power up. The scanner works cuz i used it on my dads saturn but wont workon my cavalier. Does anyone have any clue as to what could be wrong? Oh its a 97 2.2 auto if it matters.

did you turn the car to the ON position, but not crank it?

yes i turned the key to the on position. The problem is with my data interface. It will not communicate with the scanner. oh and his a newer saturn and i tryed it on 2 obd2 cars other than mine and it worked on both but not mine.
you probably blew the cigarette lighter fuse. the scan port and the cig lighter use the same power source.
