how do u take the air box out thats in the bumber. do u take the tire off then the black cover or is there another way to get at it
If you're referring to the airbox attached to the washer fluid reservoir, which is attached to the airbox under the hood with some tubing, you don't have to take the tire off.
If I recall correctly, I took off the inner fender liner, the 5 bumper inserts in the middle of the bumper, the two bolts just inside the fender that hold the bumper on, and then had to unbolt the whole washer fluid/airbox unit, unhooked the washer fluid hose and power wires, and took about 30 minutes to pull those two boxes apart.
It's a serious PITA.
Good luck.
I know it's JUST a Cavalier, and I'm sorry if I hurt your ego.
Take all that @!#$ off, and pull, pull like hell! There may be a nut/bolt in one spot too, I just know that I kicked mine's ass finally.

It looked like a rubber washer between the washer reservoir and the air box.. man I swear it seemed like a freakin hour with a screwdriver before I managed to pry those two apart.
That was pure hell.

I tried being nice about it so I didn't break my windshield washer fluid reservoir, but then I got sick of being nice, said hell with the fluid reservoir, and went ape@!#$ on the airbox, and it easily came off.
