Hello everyone. This is my first post, I think I put it in the right forum. I have a 96 2.2 3 speed Cav, just over 170K, that I got six months ago. Its a decent car, and I plan on keeping it for a while. So here's my question. A friend is giving me their 95 Cav, same engine and trans, and even the same colour. The head gasket blew for the second time, and they got a new car and are giving me the Cav. I am taking the alum rims and new tires off it, and the new battery and the trunk latch. My question is, is there any commonly needed parts I should take off it before it goes to the junkyard? A second question. The car won't start at all, it cranks fine and backfires but just won't start. Any ideas on getting it started so I don't have to tow it home?
Thanks for your replies.
Is it getting gas? Do yo hear the fuel pump when you turn the key to just before the engine starts cranking?
It could also be a problem with that blown head gasket, lol.

You may want to consider keeping some interior parts that will fit your 96 if you plan on modifying anything. It'd be easier to clean, paint, etc. the part from the 95 and then install it onto the 96... Not to mention that it gives you a "back up" part in case you mess up something... And you don't have to drive around with half of your car disassembled like me! lol
Just my 2 cents.
