Just a quick 1.

I'm looking at the RKsport fuel pressure riser kit. It's like $260 bucks and all it looks like is a fuel pressure regulator. Anyone have on of these kits, and is it worth the $$$?

There is no need to get an FPR and raise your fuel pressure if you're not boosted. It's really a waste of money because your fuel system is more than sufficient enough to handle the bolt ons you have and even little motor work that you might do in the future.

Ok but why does Rksport claim a 6 hp increase using the kit???

Marketing. Just like IAT resistor mods will net you 20+hp, and the Venom 400 actually works.

If you look they say "can" increase by 6 HP. They aren't going to gaurantee you power and like James said, it's Marketing. You see 6 HP, 10 HP, 15 HP and your wallett starts to itch you in your pocket to take out your money and spend it. In the reality of performance, there is no gaurantee amount of power, there is no right way to modify something and there is no set # of HP gains per modification. There are modifications out there that can DECREASE your performance like this one for example. Say you install this and increase the fuel pressure, you're going to run rich because it's fuel that you don't need that's being thrown into your motor.

Before you do any fuel modifications, you need to check your A/F ratio or take your car to a dyno shop to see if you are running learn (which I highly doubt) or rich.

Alot of places want you to always think that bigger is always better and the little bolt ons make a HUGE increase in airflow or change in airflow that you need to upgrade every little part of your fuel system, which isn't true. It's good that you did ask before you bought it though, so take my advice...don't buy it.

font=arial]A guy posted on this exact product 1-2 months ago, and I told him not to get it. Turns out he already had it Poor guy, hope he was able to get rid of it on eBay or something.

I find it hard to believe RKSport would put something out like this?? Or maybe not, I can't find it anywhere on their website but Gravana is selling it. I read the instructions, is it replacing a stock regulator? I dont get how it can raise the fuel pressure its mechanical and does it just have a flat setting or does it somehow know when to change fuel pressure by RPM range?

Fuel Pressure Riser Instructions wrote:This unit will be installed in the return line of the fuel injection system... This FPR will act as a restriction in the return line, to in turn raise the pressure before the FPR... Most aftermarket FPRs use a small inexpensive diaphragm, which reacts slowly to pressure variations. This can cause loss of mid ragne torque & flat spots in power band. Our FPR... reacts quickly to conditions under load... also provides a 2:1 pressure increase when under boost ...
Also, nowhere in the instructions did it indicate that it REPLACES the existing FPR, so I guess instead it just rides on the return line. Overall, it seems the point is to "pinch" the return line after the stock FPR so it creates more pressure in the feed line, thus giving more fuel output into the motor.

I can see the logic behind it all, but it's still a scam:
1) Why the f**k would an N/A car need that?!
2) Why the f**k would a boosted car need that?! Sure an aftermarket FPR is needed, but sure as hell not this one...
3) So, their FPR reacts faster to pressure changes, eh? Who gives a damn! The stock FPR is still there, and it's still only gonna react to pressure changes at it's usual speed, so that whole point is useless!
4) "Also provides a 2:1 pressure increase under boost" ?! Listen, for boost I'll leave my fuel needs to an Accel AFPR, bigger injectors, and a Cartech 2025 / Other Brand FMU... not this thingy...

Just think I'd prefer a less "half-a$$ed" approach to fuel tuning...
