about to buy some headers, and don't wanna pay the $450 or something for the rk sport ones... do the pacesetter, obx, tsudo, etc headers bolt right up, if i'm using a magnaflow cat and a catback? the pacesetters say fab may be required? anyone gotten around this?
Big plans for the '04 Fire.
All I need are is Time (sigh...)Money(sigh...)Know-how (workin on it!)
the pacesetter and tsudo are great options for a HEADER. They will not bolt up persay...you will have to weld it onto your exisiting exhaust but everything else will bolt up. Really not all that expensive, bolt the HEADER up and then drive it to your local muffler shop and have them weld it up. Maybe cost you $30 bucks. if going with the pacesetter be sure to get the armour coated one as the painted on, the paint burns off in seconds.
The tsudo HEADER you have shown there is the right listing but the wrong pic. This is the correct pic of it.

Pease try and search for things before posting..this HEADER question comes up every week or so..phil
any header for the eco is going to require cutting and welding at the cat
except fot the dc sport which is a shorty header , and just replaces the stock manifold
you dont need to weld anything for those headers
^^to put the header on the car, no you don't have to weld.
but if you plan on connecting that to the rest of the exhaust, then yes you have to weld it together.

Unless he wants the exhaust out the front, that doesn't seem to be the right header either.

It's the correct header just bolted up incorrectly.

Boy, that went right over my head. Thanks for clarifying.
will the tsudo fit without the need for aftermarket motor mounts? I haven't done that yet and I want to be able to have a header that will fit unlike the pacesetter.. i have an 03 cav.

Aftermarket mounts are a good thing to have in the long run, it will keep your downpipe from possibly breaking from engine movement.

The ONLY truely bolt-on header I've found is the iperformance unit. It is actually a 4-2-1 header-downpipe-2.5" highflow cat combo...but it breaks the bank at about 650$. I guess its not all that bad considering it should be cake to install and the whole d/p cat is included. It just sucks that they do not have online ordering...in this day and age I had just mailing a check, but there are a few members who have positive feedback on their products, so just have to bite the bullet.
I love my Iperfromance exhaust system....sound is better than any I've heard and the performance (while never dyno'd before and after) seems to be there as well. Installation was from the box to the car!
If that's too much for you...ebay has the knock off Tsudo header and not heard any complaints about it! Pacesetter coated header has been a hit with members here as well...but you'll need to weld the down pipe like everyone else has said.
Eh...old man with a Corvette now...it was bound to happen sooner rather than later right?

Can you do a similar set up for J-bodies? 2.5" DP and high flow cat?
OOOO that's pretty!! nicely done RDFabs
Cant wait to get my hands on one of those!!

This summer, we'll be offering a few new goodies for the Ecotec motor. Currently just have everything for the LSJ motor header wise. Its going to be pretty similar to that LSJ header we built above. When we build mine, its going to be 2" primaries and a 2.5" DP since i'll be boosted. For the non-boosted fellas we'll prolly offer 1.5" primary with 2.5" DP.
You guys should make a long tube 4-1 or a long tube 4-2-1 for the eco...somethign that isnt on the market for the jbody guys. i cant wait to see the header you do produce though....right around the time i should be needing one to put on the built motor.....hmm hmm hmm. i likey
