What exactly is the purpose of adding new motor mounts? Are they more of a precautionary measure, if you are adding power to your car? Do they increase performance? Sorry, kinda a newb question, but hey i don't know so i figured i would ask.
they keep the engine still under acceleration so you dont crack your header or bang your turbo off your firewall
Im a Xbox 360 fanboy...and damn proud of it!!
and transfer more power to the wheels.
the stock motor mounts are meant to keep vibrations down, but they allow the motor to rock back in forth in the engine bay as well. by getting a stiffer mount (which is what im assuming your talking about) like polyurethane you minimize how much that motor can rock in the engine bay increasing vibrations but allowing that power that's eaten up in rocking the motor to be put to the wheels.

Alright, thanks a lot for the explanation fellas. I appreciate it. What is the best brand (in your opinion) to get? I see a lot of people mention RK Sport...
well its ether turbo tech racing or RK sport the only difference that i can tell between the two is that turbo tech racing offers several different colors for their mounts and RK's mounts only come in red
I've heard people say they like the TTR ones better, but Personally, I have the RKSport upper insert and lower dogbone, and have'nt had a single problem.
Did I mention I drive a 2000 Lumina now?-----wigm-tuners.org member
I am running the Rksport upper and lower mounts on my eco and i dont have any complaints.
i have the rk sport one in my vert and the ttr one in my z. i like the ttr one better. ttr is a full replacement mount while rksport is just an insert.
The Rksport upper for the eco and LD9(im pretty sure) are full replacement.
hmmm idk. the one i bought was just an insert thats all i see on the rksport website and the rksport ones that ttr sells.

rksport only makes an insert for the OHV engine cuz well.. we all know why.
ttr is the only company that makes a full replacement for the OHV.
both companies make full replacements for the 2.4 and the eco.

We are the only company that makes a full replacement for the 2.2 OHV and 2.4L LD9 engine
RK Sport only offers an insert for these.
Now RK Sport and TTR offer a complete replacement mount for the 2.2L ecotec engine.
Hope that clears it up

I coulda sworn the rksport mount worked on the 2.4... hmm learn something new everyday
I'll stick to the eco stuff i guess
Nope the ecotec and 2.4L are different.
The difference is the distance between the frame and the mounting height on the engine. The 2.4L one is taller.
