With the swap parts becoming harder and harder to find i have a question
I know the pump must be new and that isnt an issue
What parts can i re-use safely
I have a buddy with a torn apart 2.3 HO and i have access to all the parts
Just wanna make sure i don't plan on re-using something i shouldnt
Thanks
everything is reusable...except the pump...well, technically the pump is too i just wouldnt recommend it
the only other parts there are besides the actual pump is ...the pick up screen, support bracket,a couple nuts and bolts. and a windage trey , ...thats about it
Excellent
Was just gonna reuse the pump for mock up work
Off topic but another 2.3 to 2.4 question
I am in the process of selling my 2.3 HO mani and TB with Fontana adaper phenolic spacer
I am going to aquire a 2.3 HO mani that has been extrude honed
I don't wanna reuse the fontana adaptor because of it being so thick
Is the port matching procedure difficult as i have access to a welder at work, or can i make my own flange that isnt as thick?
Thanks
why is the fact the adapter is thick a problem? have it milled down if its that big of an issue...
and yes the 2.3 pump stuff is re-usable. its not like they can ware out. they have no moving parts... LOL only thing that can is the pump.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
Just wasnt a huge fan of using the thick adapter and also 2 gaskets
I would much rather have it matched to my head and eliminate one more part that isnt needed
where are you getting an extrude hones 2.3 mani ?
^^^ x2

Got it from the same engine my HO Cams modified for a 2.4 came from
Buddy bought the GM tranny test motor from Zppr about a year ago
Here is a pic of the Mani inside, kind of crappy pic but you get the idea
Ive posted a pic of this cam before but heres another
I just have to find out which gaskets match the carriers, anyone have ideas how i can do this?

Anyone have the directions i can give to my welder for the Oil Pan work?
Such as the size of the addition and such
Will also like to add a turbo drain line to the pan after, where would be the best spot?
Thanks
wtf... since when do HO mani's have velocity stacks in them?
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
Brad......It came off the 2.3 /2.4 Test motor.....
It was on ebay FOREVER then I lost track of it after Zppr from quad4forums sold it.

Do you have any more info on this motor at all MD9? We have been looking forever
Any insight on the oil swap question as i have a welder lined up at work
Thanks
Just get him a pic of a moded one... that cam tower uses standard LD9 gaskets.

Are you sure about the gaskets Chris?
Those towers were on a 753 Head i believe that sat on a LD9 Block
He wanted the dimensions of the aluminum piece that is used for the extension
He has no problem doing this for me but just wants guidelines
Or silly question can i use the oil pan from a 2.3 HO or are they totally different?
How about the Turbo return spot, where would be best place to put it and what is it you guys have used? I will just cap it until i boost the motor
Looking for any more info for this motor as i found it very interesting first time i seen it
Thanks everyone for any insight
Darren

you can not put the 2.3 pan on the 2.4 block...doesnt fit at all
^^^ yep not even close.
Needing 2.3 oil pump stuff? PM me...
Buy a modified oil pan from Miller performance, Todd does great work.
As far as the intake space the reason it's a good idea is it isolates the aluminum intake from heat soak from the engine which gives you cooler incoming air, I would use it and get longer studs/bolts. As far as the oil drain you want it to enter the oilpan where the nearest main cap is to allow the oil to drainback.
Also if you search for Atomic you will see pics of the custom modded oilpan he did for me, my turbo hybrid will finally be done this spring and I can't wait to ride.

Darren
That cam tower has a spot for a 2.4 PS pump... Even if this is a 95 cam tower, the gaskets are the same.

Looking forward to any input on addition to oil pan
Intake Manifold just offically became mine
Cant wait to get it all smoothed out
Thanks guys

Darren, what is needed is about an inch of material added to the bottom of the 2.4 pan.

Zppr from quad4forums is the only one that really knows...or seen it first hand. I tried like hell to find more info / buy it. It was TO expensive, and there was little to NO info.
