So far the only spring that we have found that require the least machining are the ones john has on his car. If you look for a thread about the 2200 valve cover spacer, they are listed there. They are off of a ford 5.4 and 4.6 (i think) motors and all we would have to do is machine the spring boss. Any way you look at it you are still going to have to get some machining done to get some aftermarket springs, because no one makes them for us.

And those springs were made by Crane Cams, who just closed their doors!

I guess it's back to using the longer stem valves, Comp SBC Beehive springs, custom pushrods and and VC spacer!

has anybody tried to contact a company to try and get some springs made? If we take the specs off the ford springs and contact a manufacturer and throw up a feeler on here, do you think they would go for it? Im guessing there would be a minimum purchase but im sure that there is enough interest here to sell a few sets. any thoughts?

Brad, not to worry. You have the older 2.2L OHV, not the 2200. We can still use the Comp Cams SBC Beehive springs with no modifications necessary. (Unless you're running a 98+ head/motor)

I'm still old-school. prefer it that way.

thank god for that. sometime in the future I'm looking at needing something a bit stronger than the stock springs. . .

I'm going to be running 2 different cams, on for NA and one for soon to be boost application, I don't mind about paying more to get 2 of them done, what would you suggest for either? and what lifters to use? I'm looking most of power-band b e between 4-6500 RPM.
