Why do you need to go faster than 108?

if your trap speeds are that fast in the 1/4 mile, then i would figure that you would be smart enough to know how to eliminate it.

Wait. When people say shut off, does the car die completely?

Because the other day I planted my foot going from one interstate to the next (off/on ramp) and I was at like 5500rpm in 3rd gear (auto) which I'm assuming is near 100mph...

If it shuts off, I lose power steering. Just curious since I've never taken it to the limiter..

Actually with the 3 speed autos GM installed a "anti-repeat" device. Its a 1/2lb of C4 that has been molded on to the rear of the tranny case. The wires that come out of the VSS runs to the blasting cap in the C4. Do to the design of the VSS sensor it only produces enough voltage to ignite the blasting cap when the car reaches approx. 108mph. It does seem like a dumb idea for GM to destroy their cars(along with their drivers), but they are just trying to be responsible as a company and trying to prevent as many multi-car accidents as they can.

LOL......

Drive the car into a telephone pole, it'll never hit the limiter again.

But really, I know for a fact that the people here with the really fast cars do not have their governors BYPASSED or REMOVED at all. That's 100% true. Their car still has a speed that turns off the fuel injectors, and a speed that turns them back on. Learn your facts before asking dumb questions. A governor is written into the program in your cars computer, you can't take it out.

I don't care about the 3 speed! I have a 4t40e son!

In that case, then there is 1lb of C4 instead of a 1/2lb.

Cause the amount of money you would spend on a tech 2 would be totally worth it for a cavalier.

What's funny to me is people bragging about beating Cavaliers in street races.

LOL @ that link. I love it.

However, I think we should suggest to Dave that we create a Douchebag section. And he can post in there.

why? the governor isn't whats keeping you below 108, its the lack of balls the old 2.2 has..

your car can't physically muscle its way through the air that fast. your car is slow. you're an idiot.

It also saves society the trouble of dealing with those who would think to take a FWD econo-car up to 108!

Go beyond the "bolt-on".
