idle rattle

Ok I know you guys are gonna think this is wierd but bare with me. Ever since I put on the Vibrant Cat-back exhaust I have noticed something different. When the car is stationary in Drive (i have an automatic) or Park and has been sitting for anywhere from 10 seconds to 30 seconds (it varies) but when it happens it goes from sounding like a normal idle to all the sudden louder and vibrates harder. It doesn't go back and forth from normal to that it just stays louder. This is the weird part, i can put it in neutral and it stops every single time.....???....Im very confused at would appreciate if anyone knows whats going on? Could it be just an exhaust rattle? but why would it do that only in Drive with the brakes pressed and in Park but not in neutral??

Thanks guys...

When you put your car in drive the engine tilts a little on the motor mounts. Maybe the exhaust rubs on something when the car is put into drive and the engine moves that little bit?

But he said it does in in park and drive, while neutral quiets it.

It would be logical to assume that it's an exhaust rattle since it began when you replaced the exhaust. Get under the car (supported safely) and hit the exhaust from the manifold to the muffler and see if you get a rattle.

your best bet is to get a buddy to listen to it while it rattles. if not a good mechanic will have a stethoscope-type device that reads decibels. and they can pin point the rattle
